Choosing Happiness at Work Training Overview
The value of being happy at work cannot be overstated. We spend so much of our time at work to not be happy while we are there. When we are not happy at work, it will inevitably spread to our personal lives which in turn affects those around us.
Happiness at work is different for each person; it requires an understanding that team members are individuals who are made happy for varying reasons. Leaders need to ask, “How can I make my team happy? Individuals need to ask, “How can I achieve happiness in my workplace?” The stories in the book will set you on a path toward achieving happiness more often and more abundantly and this workshop aims to help you create effective strategies for you and your team to achieve happiness at work using the Happiness Framework™.

A common theme that emerged repeatedly from the individuals interviewed for the book is their high level of self-awareness. They possess a deep understanding of their own identities, values, strengths, and passions. This self-awareness forms the essential groundwork for effective leadership and teamwork. In this session, our focus will be on enhancing our comprehension of both ourselves and our team members. We will employ various tools such as the Personality Dimensions assessment, values self-assessment, and the Johari Window. Through these activities, we aim to cultivate a greater appreciation for the unique qualities and diverse strengths that each team member brings. By embracing and comprehending these differences, we can unleash the full potential of our team and foster a collaborative environment where every individual feels valued and listened to.
The interviewees in the book demonstrated a remarkable attribute: high emotional intelligence (EQ). Research indicates that EQ plays a significant role in achieving success, with up to 80% of workplace success attributed to emotional intelligence compared to 20% for intellectual intelligence (IQ). This finding is supported by the Conference Board of Canada’s Employability Skills 2000+ initiative.
This session will explore the specific competencies individuals can cultivate to enhance their emotional intelligence. It goes beyond the professional sphere, extending to personal lives as well. By developing these competencies, participants can increase their EQ levels and benefit from improved interactions at work and in personal relationships.
This session is dedicated to exploring the transition curve and equipping participants with effective strategies to navigate change successfully. Just as change is constant, so too is the need to adapt and grow. By understanding the stages of transition and the emotions associated with each phase, participants can develop resilience and embrace change with a positive mindset. The session will provide practical tools and techniques to help individuals move through the transition curve, managing challenges and uncertainties with confidence. By embracing change as an opportunity for personal and professional growth, participants will be empowered to thrive in an ever-changing world.
One of the consistent themes among the interviewees is their ability to find genuine enjoyment in their daily work. They have learned to infuse their jobs with a playful mindset, recognizing the immense joy it brings and the tangible outcomes it yields. When individuals experience happiness in their professional lives, they become more productive and engaged, reducing the likelihood of conflicts.
In this session, we will delve into strategies to incorporate playfulness into our work routines. By embracing a playful mindset, we can unlock our creativity, foster a positive work environment, and enhance overall productivity. We will explore the connection between finding happiness in our work, serving others, and seeing the good in each day. Additionally, we will develop action plans to promote wellness, resilience, and optimism in challenging times. By integrating the principles of Choosing Happiness into our interactions with clients, colleagues, and the community, we can create a positive ripple effect that spreads joy to those around us.
